What would we call Gameboy practice?
Several days ago: Four hours on the airplane- a lovely chance to catch up on zencasts. After hearing all I could absorb, I switched to the games on my new iPod. Haven't played electronic games in many many years. Discovered that the gameboy is a fine tool for training attention. Cannot multitask anymore, and operating the wheel took all my concentration. As soon as I started to think- anything at all- could not coordinate the wheel. Wonderful! A biofeedback technique for knowing when I have jumped the trolley back into thought. Not for the longrun, though. No awareness of what derailed me.
Studies in Impermanence
Spiritual sojourning, artistic exploration, unremittant yearning. I am always surprised, the epiphanies never quite answer the question I was pursuing, but they always expose a piece of the puzzle. This is the nature of revelation/enlightenment, I think. I live among a family of right-brainers, and today I have added links to my nephew Jay's amazing time lapse video art. The mind intuits impermanence and wants to objectify it. Look!

The monk calls himself
I am inspired to blog after hearing the first few sentences of a current zencast. The monk calls himself: Are you there? Yes, I am here.
You older zensters and spiritual sojourners- are you there? I will post to myself as time allows, and should there be others out there, I will encounter you with joy.
